EBIC advocates for the biostimulant industry at the Commission Expert Group on Fertilising Products

EBIC observes Commission Expert Group
EBIC’s Observer status at the Commission Expert Group on Fertilising Products (CEG-FP), and in many other EU meetings key to the biostimulant sector, allows EBIC to share our members’ expertise and views and to enable the development of the plant biostimulant business in a harmonised European market. It also provides our members with valuable insights on updates to the EU Regulation and other related policies.
Among others, the following agenda items of 26th and 27th November CEG-FP meeting were relevant to EBIC, which was represented on this occasion by David Barton, Elodie Lebastard, and Kristen Sukalac from the secretariat:
- The inclusion of additional materials [animal by-products] in CMC 10 of the Fertilising Products Regulation (FPR) and the related technical study;
- Future updates to CMC 7 (microorganisms) in the FPR, including the study being conducted by the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) currently underway to support the inclusion of new microorganisms;
- Future developments of the FPR, notably the review of suggestions, for additional materials, Component Material Categories, and production processes submitted through a survey by the Nutriënten Management Instituut (NMI);
- The FPR Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ);
- Standardisation work on EU fertilising products;
- Conformity assessment of EU fertilising products.
The secretariat will report to EBIC members on the various topics and collect member input on topics where written feedback was requested.
