Biostimulants in Europe: Exploring National Pathways and EU Certification

As part of its ongoing engagement strategy to defend the multiple use principle and to promote a clear, science-based understanding of the regulatory boundary between plant biostimulants and other product categories, EBIC has accepted an invitation to speak at the conference Biostimulants in Europe: Exploring National Pathways and EU Certification, organised by Redebel Regulatory Affairs. The event will take place in Charleroi on 26 March and will bring together regulators, researchers, notified bodies and industry representatives to discuss national pathways, EU certification and current regulatory challenges for biostimulants. The timing of this conference is particularly relevant given ongoing EU discussions around the regulatory boundary between plant biostimulants and plant protection products, including the recent proposal from the European Commission on the simplification of food and feed safety requirements (Omnibus X). EBIC’s participation will support constructive dialogue with authorities and stakeholders and contribute to advancing EBIC’s priorities for the year. Other confirmed speakers include Patrick du Jardin (Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech / University of Liège), a representative from the Belgian market surveillance authority, Theodora Nikolakopoulou (DG GROW), as well as representatives from notified bodies, laboratories and companies, including EBIC members. The conference is open to all stakeholders in the biostimulants sector, subject to a registration fee.
