July 2025
At its General Assembly on 26 June 2025, EBIC members elected a new President, Vice President, and Treasurer to its Board to guide the association’s work through 2027.
Carlos Rodríguez-Villa Förster steps into the role of President, bringing decades of leadership in biotechnology and agriculture, alongside international business expertise. As Managing Director of AlgaEnergy, he has helped position the company as a global leader in microalgae biotechnology.
Marco Rosso joins as Vice President. With a background spanning technical, regulatory, and sustainability leadership, Marco has been a prominent voice in advancing biological solutions in European and global agriculture.
Antonis Angeletakis has been elected Treasurer. His strong technical foundation in crop nutrition and biostimulants, combined with his leadership at Yara and his former co-chair role on EBIC’s Mid-Term Strategy Steering Group, make him a valuable addition to the Board’s executive team.
The new officers were elected by a strong majority, reflecting the support and confidence of EBIC’s membership. All three will serve a first term until the end of 2027 and may stand for an additional two-year term thereafter.
Carlos Rodríguez-Villa Förster commented, “It’s an honour to continue serving EBIC in this new role. Together, we will keep promoting innovative, science-based biostimulant solutions and support farmers across Europe in addressing critical sustainability challenges.”
The Board also continues to include Directors-at-Large Alice Toderi and Massimo Toni, who will remain in their roles.
EBIC and its Board envision a future where sustainable agriculture is empowered by the global adoption of plant biostimulants, supporting farmers and strengthening food systems. Through education, advocacy, and collaboration, EBIC promotes biostimulants as essential tools for advanced, sustainable food production. Our leadership values expertise, innovation and collaboration, supporting EBIC as it works to ensure fair access, foster innovation, and champion a resilient agricultural future.
