Members provide input at Mid-Term Strategy Midpoint Workshop

On 20th November, around 40 EBIC members gathered online for a dedicated Mid-Term Strategy (MTS) midpoint workshop. Two years after the establishment of the MTS, this is a key milestone in the delivery of EBIC’s strategy for 2023–2027. The session offered members the opportunity to reflect on the first half of the MTS period and assess how the external environment has shifted, as well as offering their thoughts and opinions on how EBIC should direct its activities over the next two years to continue delivering value across a rapidly evolving landscape for plant biostimulants.
The workshop focused on a central question: How do you think external factors will shape how we deliver and achieve our strategic goals?
Members reviewed the progress made across the four MTS building blocks and the subsequent 12 strategic goals, including removal of regulatory barriers, market development, innovation support and strengthening the association and the wider ecosystem.
Despite significant shifts in EU and global policy priorities over the past two years, including heightened attention to competitiveness, uncertainty around regulatory implementation, and market pressures, members agreed that the 12 MTS goals remain relevant and set a clear direction for the next two years.
Through four breakout sessions, participants provided targeted input on each of the MTS goals, sharing insights from their own company activities and the challenges they have encountered, as well as trying to think from an industry-wide perspective on priorities for the next two years. Input received from EBIC members through these breakout sessions will feed into EBIC’s strategic direction, as we continue work carried out throughout 2025, such as member-driven advocacy on the four regulatory pathways open for progress on the implementation of the EU Fertilising Products Regulation. With preparations for the 2026 EBIC Summit already underway, this feedback will also drive thinking around key focus areas for EBIC’s flagship event.
“Although things have changed since the MTS was put together in 2023, the goals remain fully relevant, right now and over the next two years. We have achieved a lot, but we still have a lot to do. There are priorities that will require dedication, efforts and strategic coordination of resources, but EBIC is strong. Members continue providing high quality and deep feedback, and they should be proud of being part of this” said Carlos Rodriguez-Villa Förster, EBIC President.
EBIC will now consolidate the workshop insights and feed them into strategic discussions for the implementation of the second half of the Mid-Term Strategy.
